Man United announce exit of treble-winning coach

0 0

Manchester United have announced that U18 head coach Adam Lawrence will leave the club at the end of this season (via the club’s official website).

Lawrence initially joined as the head coach of the U16s before progressing to the U18s, where he recorded massive success.

He guided them to a treble last season, winning the U18 Premier League and the FA Youth Cup at the expense of Manchester City and beating Chelsea in the national final.

United finished second, two points behind City, in the Premier League South and were knocked out by Aston Villa in the FA Youth Cup semi-final this term.

Since Lawrence began working with the Professional Development Phase (U17-U21), seven academy graduates have made their debuts.

Striker Chido Obi and defenders Harry Amass and Tyler Fredricson are the latest to have progressed from the first team, having played under him.

Director Nick Cox has expressed his appreciation for Lawrence’s contribution to the club.

“Adam has significantly contributed to our club throughout his four years at Manchester United,” Cox said.

“His passion for helping young players maximise their potential has played an important role in the success of our academy system.

“We take great pride in supporting and witnessing the development of our staff.

“Adam is a fine example of that, moving up from the Under-16s to the Under-18s, enjoying success and now being ready to seek a new challenge in the game.

“The whole of the academy thanks Adam for his service and wishes him the very best of luck for the future.”

Lawrence has already been offered roles in the English Football League but has yet to decide on his future.

Man United have started searching for a replacement for the 39-year-old tactician.
