0 crosses, 13 duels lost: Desperate Man Utd need £29.5m ready-made transfer solution for key position

Manchester United delivered a lethargic display in the 0-2 defeat to West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday.

Manager Ruben Amorim delivered a stern message to the players and the management after the defeat.

Common sense suggests that prioritising the UEFA Europa League is crucial, as it remains United’s only route to Champions League qualification next season.

However, throwing in the towel in the Premier League is unacceptable for a club of United’s stature.

The Red Devils played without urgency and failed to spark any real creativity in the final third.

Amorim’s 3-4-3 system hinges on the effectiveness of the wing-backs, an area that urgently requires strengthening in the summer transfer window.

Teenager Harry Amass has been handed three Premier League starts in recent weeks after largely being on the fringes in 2024.

He enjoyed a promising full debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers but has struggled physically to cope with the demands of top-tier football in his last two league starts.

Across the recent defeats to Brentford and West Ham, Amass has lost 13 duels and failed to deliver a single accurate cross.

His visible reluctance to play the ball forward even drew groans from the home crowd in the first half.

There is no doubt that Amass and Patrick Dorgu are precocious talents, but they still need time to develop.

We believe United must make a summer move for Wolves star Rayan Ait-Nouri as a more ready-made solution.

In 35 Premier League games, Ait-Nouri has bagged four goals and seven assists.

The Algeria international is set to enter the final year of his contract this summer, although Wolves have the option to extend it by 12 months.

United are already frontrunners in the race to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves and snapping up Ait-Nouri in tandem could inject serious firepower down the left flank.

With INEOS targeting young players with high ceilings and resale value, Ait-Nouri ticks every box.

At just 23 years old, Ait-Nouri fits the bill perfectly, though United may need to pay a premium to land him.

He is currently valued at £29.5 million, but Wolves could demand closer to £40 million to sanction his departure.
