Massive Away Win, Record for Watkins, and the Final Push Begins
Massive Win and a Massive Week Ahead
Fantastic result yesterday at the Vitality Stadium! Villa came away with a huge three points, securing our place in European football and keeping the pressure firmly on our rivals for that fifth spot in the Champions League.
A special shoutout to Ollie Watkins, who has now become Villa’s top scorer in the Premier League era. What a fantastic achievement. Well done Ollie
Looking Over Our Shoulder
Now, attention turns to the teams around us. Today it’s Forest vs Leicester. Honestly, I can’t see Leicester getting anything from it, but I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for a miracle—or at the very least, a draw. That pressure will definitely be on Leicester after our brilliant away win.
Forest still have:
West Ham (away)
Chelsea (home)
Not the easiest finish.
The Big One: Newcastle vs Chelsea
This one could be decisive. If Newcastle win, then it’s Chelsea we’ll likely be battling for fifth. If Chelsea win, it flips again. Every time I look at the remaining fixtures, I end up changing my mind about who has the edge—it’s that close.
Remaining Fixtures
Newcastle – Arsenal (away), Everton (home)
Chelsea – Manchester United (home), Forest (away)
It’s genuinely hard to call. Anyone could slip up. We just need to keep doing our part.
Villa’s Run-In
On paper, ours should be the most straightforward. Our final two fixtures are:
Spurs (home) – Friday night under the lights
Man United (away) – Notoriously tricky for us
Spurs at home feels winnable, but United away? That’s the one that worries me. They’ve always been one of our biggest bogey teams, and playing them at Old Trafford never comes easy. Still, I think we can win both.
So here we go—the final stretch. Two games. Six points up for grabs. Champions League football still in sight. UTV
Update: As I’m about to post this blog post, Newcastle are up by one goal.
