What To Expect From Celtics In Game 2 Of Knicks Series

The Knicks dealt the Celtics a surprise loss in Game 1 at TD Garden on Monday, but what really would be shocking is if Boston fell flat two games in a row.

The C’s rarely lose two games in a row, and it’s also unlikely Joe Mazzulla’s side will shoot 25% from beyond the arc again. It’s why NESN’s Travis Thomas and Ountae Campbell weren’t concerned about the Celtics’ chances in the Eastern Conference semifinals on the latest episode of “Hold My Banner.”

“Game 2, I’m gonna go Celtics 109, Knicks 104,” Thomas said. “I think these game will be competitive, but I think you’ll see some shots fall. You’re definitely going to see an aggressive Jaylen Brown and an aggressive (Jayson) Tatum. I don’t know what the hell is going on with (Kristaps) Porzingis. I’m going to leave him out of this until I can figure out, but I think Tatum and Brown will come out guns blazing in Game 2.”

Thomas and Campbell agreed that Boston needs to mix up its game plan to be successful against New York. They also noted that despite the C’s struggles, the Knicks only earned a narrow win in Game 1, which bodes well for a Game 2 adjustment.

“I see Joe Mazzulla actually make adjustments in this game when this game does get tight later on instead of settling in and waiting to see what the guys are going to do,” Campbell said. “He’s going to try to take more control in the huddles in timeouts and get them to do things a little bit differently. I’m going to go Celtics 115, Knicks 108.”
