Tottenham fans have mixed thoughts on Ryan Mason to West Brom rumours

0 0

Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted to news linking Ryan Mason with the vacant West Bromwich Albion job, and there seems to be a genuine sense of goodwill towards the 33-year-old potentially making his own way in management.

Ryan Mason has been part of the furniture at Tottenham Hotspur for some time now, with the 33-year-old often coming in for sacked managers in a holding-the-fort role.

However, the assistant coach has not had to act as an interim manager this season, as Ange Postecoglou remains in charge of Tottenham, despite his future being under fire.

Of course, Postecoglou could still leave Spurs before the start of next season, as new reports suggest that failure to win the Europa League would seal his fate.

Ryan Mason is favourite for the West Brom job

Ryan Mason was once tipped as one who could take on the managerial position at Tottenham, should the club pull the plug on Postecoglou.

But that could be off the cards, as fresh reports from talkSport now reveal that the ex-Tottenham player is a leading contender for the vacant West Bromwich Albion job, but he will have to wait until after Tottenham’s European campaign has come to an end before making a decision over his future.

Tottenham fans, well aware of the latest development, are happy to see the young manager linked with a move away from the club, with many believing it would be great for his career.

One fan said: “Let him go, it has not got any better for him at Spurs but he has learnt and done his apprenticeship under so many managers he will be quality once he goes out on his own.”

Another added: “About time Mason goes on his own.” One other fan stated: “Would be brilliant for him imo and hopefully we can send some academy players to get minutes there.”

While some want him to try out a new challenge, others were just as keen to see him stay. One fan said: “Give him the Tottenham job instead!!” Another stated: “Levy will not let him go, Levy needs him within.”

Another fan took a firm stance: “Please god, move him on, sick of watching him sitting waiting for people to get sacked so he can have 15 minutes of fame. We are not a charity, he does not deserve a full-time job because he took a bang to the head years ago.”

Ryan Mason coaching experience at Tottenham and why West Brom makes sense

During his time at Spurs, Ryan Mason has served as an assistant manager to several head coaches. He is currently Postecoglou’s assistant, and he has been assistant to Christian Stellini.

The former midfielder has been a loyal servant to the Lilywhites and one who has taken up the mantle of caretaker too, coaching a total of 13 games in that role.

Indeed, the most famous of all his games was him coming up against Pep Guardiola in the Carabao Cup back in 2021, a game Spurs lost 1-0.

More experience would be needed by the young manager before he can take a full-time managerial role at Tottenham, and coaching West Bromwich Albion in the Championship would be a good starting point.
