Tottenham handed Heung-min Son injury boost for potential Europa League final

0 2

Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a much-needed boost ahead of a possible Europa League final, with fresh claims emerging around Heung-min Son’s fitness.

Every Tottenham fan out there would agree that the 2024/25 season has been a horror show, particularly in the Premier League, given that they are firmly down in 16th place.

But Ange Postecoglou and his players still have a shot at achieving something special, as Tottenham are so close to yet another European final in less than a decade.

Standing in their way is Bodo/Glimt, a side Spurs beat 3-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but with a return leg on Glimt’s artificial turf still to come, the tie is far from over.

Heung-min Son could return for Tottenham Europa League final

Tottenham have been without their captain, Heung-min Son, since the start of April, with the winger nursing a foot injury.

This setback has seen the Korean miss out on a few crucial games, including the second leg against Frankfurt and the first leg against Bodo/Glimt.

The expectation is that he would make it in time for the return leg of the semi-finals, but that looks increasingly unlikely.

Postecoglou has revealed that the Korean is now training and that his involvement in the Europa League is touch and go.

However, journalist Paul O Keefe has now noted that Son should be able to play in the Europa League final should Spurs reach it. Replying to somebody on X, formerly known as Twitter, the journalist said: “I was told Son will be in the final.”

Spurs desperate to have Heung-min Son fit amid James Maddison injury blow

Son, of course, is a big miss for Spurs, having been one of their most influential players this season, scoring 11 goals and assisting 11 times as well.

He is one that Ange Postecoglou would be hoping can feature in San Mames, especially after recent news of James Maddison potentially missing the rest of the season because of a knee injury.

Maddison and Solanke are the only other players to have managed 22 goal contributions in the whole of the Tottenham squad, and it would be a big blow if both Maddison and Son missed one of the biggest games in the club’s modern history.
