Video: Harry Kane suffers touchline heartbreak with first trophy in his sights
Harry Kane will have to wait just a bit longer to secure the first major trophy of his career, with RB Leipzig handing the former Tottenham man a blow just as he was about to run onto the pitch to celebrate a Bundesliga title.
Bayern Munich only needed a draw at the Red Bull Arena to be crowned Champions, and it looked like they had done enough to get the trophy back from Bayer Leverkusen.
Kane was watching on from the sidelines as he was suspended for the game, but the Tottenham man was itching to celebrate what would have been the first major honour of his career.
The 31-year-old, who has played a leading role in Bayern’s march to the title, having scored 24 goals and provided nine assists in the Bundesliga this season, will have to wait at least another week to lift the trophy after some late drama in East Germany.

Bayern went 2-0 down in the first half but fought back brilliantly to level the scores after the break, with two goals in two minutes from Eric Dier and Michael Olise.
It looked like they had done enough to win after Leroy Sane completed the comeback with a goal on 83 minutes.
Kane was ready to run onto the pitch to celebrate with his teammates, but Yussuf Poulsen ruined the party by popping up with a 94th-minute equaliser, leaving the former Spurs man and his teammates disappointed.
Why Leipzig’s late equaliser might be a blessing in disguise for Kane
While the former Tottenham Hotspur man and his Bayern teammates would have wanted to get the job done today, it is only a matter of time before they secure the title, as they are sitting pretty at the top of the table.
One would fully expect Vincent Kompany’s men to get the job done against Borussia Mönchengladbach at the Allianz Stadium next Saturday.
Leipzig’s equaliser may be a blessing in disguise for Kane as it may ensure that he is actually on the pitch when his side are confirmed Champions, while it also gives the club a great chance of enjoying the moment in front of their home fans.
