Ange Postecoglou says Tottenham vice-captain has been sent for injury scan
Ange Postecoglou has provided an update on James Maddison and Dominic Solanke after both players came off with an injury in Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Bodo/Glimt on Thursday.
Maddison and Solanke both delivered outstanding performances on Thursday, with the Bodo/Glimt defenders finding it difficult to live with the midfielder’s creativity and the striker’s pace and power.
Both players got on the scoresheet, with the former Leicester man masterfully controlling an aerial through ball from Pedro Porro before finding the back of the net in the first half, while the centre-forward converted from the spot in the second period.
However, Maddison appeared to have some discomfort with his knee and was forced off on 65 minutes, while Solanke also limped off 10 minutes later.
Ange Postecoglou reveals the latest on Dominic Solanke and James Maddison
Postecoglou has now revealed the latest regarding the pair, and while it is relatively good news regarding the striker, his update on Maddison is a bit more concerning.
Speaking about the pair, the Tottenham boss said (via Football.London): “Dom’s not too bad, obviously a doubt for the weekend. Madders is a bit more of a concern as it’s a knee, we’ve sent him for a scan.”
Spurs fans will be desperately hoping that the attacking midfielder can recover in time for the final in Bilbao on May 21 if the Lilywhites get there, particularly given that there are now concerns regarding Lucas Bergvall after his latest injury.
Key Tottenham man in a race against time to be fit for second leg
Tottenham fans will also be concerned about the fitness of their captain, who has been out of action with a foot injury over the last few weeks.
Postecoglou revealed that Son is working hard to be back in time for the second leg against Bodo/Glimt in Norway next week.
The Spurs captain’s return will certainly serve as a big boost for the Lilywhites, not just because of his ability to make the difference in clutch moments but also due to the leadership he brings to this relatively inexperienced side.
