Dominic Solanke sends promise to Tottenham fans ahead of Bodo/Glimt away

0 2

Dominic Solanke has made it clear that Tottenham Hotspur will not be resting on their laurels when they head to Norway for the second leg of their Europa League semi-final against Bodo/Glimt.

It all went according to plan for Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final tie against Bodo/Glimt.

A 3-1 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium leaves Spurs in a commanding position ahead of the return leg against Bodo/Glimt at the Aspmyra Stadion.

The job, though, is far from over as Bodo/Glimt’s artificial turf is sure to pose a different challenge when Tottenham come visiting.

Dominic Solanke insists Spurs must finish the job against Bodo/Glimt

Dominic Solanke is one of five players we stated would need to step up for Spurs over the two legs against Kjetil Knutsen’s side if Tottenham are to progress to the finals.

The Englishman did just that on Thursday, by slotting in the Lilywhites’ third of the night from the penalty spot.

The forward now believes that although Spurs are in a strong position going into the second leg, the tie is far from over. He has insisted that Tottenham need to get the job done once more when they travel to Norway.

He told TNT Sports when asked how pleased Spurs are with the lead: “Yeah, we are pleased with the performance, obviously it is nice to get a lead and go away there.

“We know it is a tough place to go. Obviously, it is nice to have that lead, but we know it is still going to be a difficult game, we still know the job is not done yet.”

On his penalty: “For sure it is always nice to score, especially in these big games, it is that little bit more special, I am obviously delighted to get a goal again tonight.”

On whether Ange’s substitutions disrupted the rhythm: “I think it was obviously not ideal conceding late on, we wanted to keep a clean sheet and take that 3-0 lead there, but maybe we lacked a little bit of concentration at the end and gave them that opportunity to score that goal.”

On whether the late goal changes the second leg: “Does not change it much, we still know that we need to go there and do the job there no matter the score, if it was 3-0 or 3-1 we still need to go there and put in a big performance.”

Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson lead Spurs Europa League charge

Dominic Solanke’s latest strike now takes his tally for goal contributions this season above the 20 mark, with the forward scoring 14 times and assisting eight times.

His strike on Thursday night made him Spurs’ joint top scorer in the Europa League, levelled on four goals with Brennan Johnson, who gave Tottenham their lead against Bodo/Glimt after just 37 seconds.

It was a near-perfect display against Bodo/Glimt, and it is one that Spurs fans have become accustomed to in Europe this season, as Tottenham have overcome all of their knockout stage opponents down to this point.

Ange Postecoglou’s second-season trophy claim lives on, and for all the stick that Tottenham have received, they are now two wins away from ending their 17-year trophy drought.
