What Roman Anthony, Joe Mazzulla Have In Common In Boston
Boston sets the scene for the iconic 2010 film “The Town” that still resonates with players and coaches around the city.
Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla is more than outspoken about his admiration and inspiration from the movie. Across town, top Red Sox prospect Roman Anthony admitted the film immediately came to mind when he stepped inside Fenway Park.
“I’d seen ‘The Town’ before I got drafted and it was one of my favorite movies,” Anthony told WEEI’s “Play Tessie” podcast. “And so the first thing I thought of when I entered Fenway Park was ‘The Town,’ not that I just got drafted by the Red Sox.”
It appears Anthony and Mazzulla think about the same things inside the walls of the historic ballpark in Boston.
Both men should be in the spotlight of the city over the next month. The Celtics wait for the winner between the Detroit Pistons and the New York Knicks in the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Meanwhile, Anthony continues to mash at Triple-A Worcester and more than proved his value to the big-league club when his eventual call to the Red Sox comes.
The Celtics start their next postseason series next Monday at TD Garden.
