Tottenham handed a blow in pursuit of former Bayern Munich manager
Tottenham Hotspur are expected to fall short in their efforts to secure the services of an experienced Bundesliga manager, with a new report explaining why the Lilywhites face an uphill task in getting him in.
While Spurs may still have the chance to win silverware this season, their league form has simply been unacceptable.
With four matches still to do, Tottenham have already suffered more defeats than they ever have in any 38-game Premier League campaign.
That is why it has been widely reported that Ange Postecoglou will be sacked even if Spurs win the Europa League.
Tottenham expected to miss out on Niko Kovac
A whole host of managers have been linked with the Lilywhites hot seat, including an experienced Bundesliga manager.
It was revealed last week that Tottenham had contacted Borussia Dortmund boss Niko Kovac to explore the possibility of taking him to N17 this summer.
However, a new report from Der Westen says that despite Spurs showing a lot of interest in the Croat, he is ‘unlikely’ to leave Dortmund this summer.
The 53-year-old is thought to ‘feel comfortable’ in the environment at Westfalenstadion, with the Bundesliga club happy with the work he has done.
A parting of ways is thus not expected this summer, with the North London club potentially set to face defeat in their pursuit of Kovac.
Who are the other managers on Tottenham’s wishlist?
A number of outlets have claimed over recent weeks that Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva and Thomas Frank are the three candidates for the Spurs job.
More recently, it has been revealed that Scott Parker has admirers at Tottenham while it has also been suggested that Spurs are considering a move for Kieran McKenna.
It has been alleged by some sources that Tottenham are also keeping an eye on big names such as Carlo Ancelotti and Jurgen Klopp.
