Patriots To Wear New Alternate Uniform During 2025 Season
The New England Patriots will have new look on the field and with their wardrobe for the 2025 NFL season.
The NFL announced the Patriots will be among the first set of teams to wear “Rivalries” jerseys next season. The uniforms are expected to be akin to city connect and city edition jerseys in MLB and the NBA, respectively, and be derived from local community insights.
All teams from the AFC East and NFC West will wear the new alternate jerseys next season as part of a four-year rollout plan. The AFC South and NFC North are on deck in 2026. The eight combined teams from the AFC East and NFC West will wear the jerseys only once next season, according to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, and it will come in a home game against a division rival.
“The NFL is home to some of the biggest rivalries in football,” the NFL’s EVP and chief revenue officer Renie Anderson told Jones ahead of the announcement. “We decided to team up with Nike to allow fans and players to connect like never before with the Rivalries program because nothing brings communities together quite like a good rivalry. We know our fans and players are excited for games with their club’s biggest rivals and wanted to make these even bigger. And we know our fans (especially our younger fans) and players get excited when their clubs wear unique and or special uniforms. “
The Patriots have switched up their uniform looks in past seasons. Once Tom Brady departed following the 2019 season, the Patriots went with a navy-on-navy top and bottom for their home threads and a new white road jersey. Both uniforms featured new striping on the shoulders as well.
The all-navy look for New England’s home uniforms wasn’t received that well by fans, and last season, the Patriots wore the gray pants they donned during their dynastic run to go with the blue tops.
The Patriots have also worn their throwback “Pat Patriot” uniforms twice a season for the last couple of years. Those figure to be still in the running this season.
The NFL and the Patriots have not released what the new jersey looks like, but New England’s franchise quarterback perhaps hinted on Chris Long’s “Green Light” podcast in February that the “Bledsoe Blues” could make a return.
“I think they’re maybe coming out with a — maybe — the fans are wanting some blues, some throwback blues,” Maye said. “Those would be sweet. The fans are wanting some of those, which would be sick.”
The Patriots haven’t worn the royal blue uniforms since the 2000 season.
