Tottenham ‘spiralling’ as claim made about discontent in the dressing room
Former Everton and Aston Villa CEO Keith Wyness is appalled by just how bad things have gotten for Tottenham, and he fears that things will continue to get worse for the Lilywhites as they have been overtaken by a number of smaller Premier League clubs.
No one could have predicted just how bad things could get for Spurs this season on the back of their fifth-place finish in Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge.
Tottenham have already suffered more defeats than they have in any 38-game campaign, and things could get even worse, with five more matches left to go.
Additionally, Spurs are also on course to achieving their lowest-ever points tally in the Premier League era, and it is difficult to see how Postecoglou will recover from this.
Keith Wyness believes Tottenham are spiralling behind the scenes
Unsurprisingly, reports over recent weeks have indicated that Postecoglou is expected to be sacked even if Spurs win the Europa League.
There have also been murmurs that some Tottenham players are not happy with Postecoglou’s behaviour behind the scenes, with a parting of ways looking inevitable this season.
Wyness believes that the Lilywhites are in danger of falling behind even further and being left behind by other sides in what is an increasingly more competitive Premier League.
Speaking of Tottenham’s struggles this season, he told Football Insider: “It’s a big sign of how far they’ve fallen. It’s been incredible to watch. We knew about the injuries, but to see the decline has been quite dramatic.
“Behind the scenes, there must be some disquiet in the dressing room. We know Postecoglou has had his issues with the fans. The European adventure is the only thing keeping them going right now.
“To see Spurs potentially finish 17th, it is weird. But it just shows how quickly a spiral can happen, and that’s the danger in the Premier League now.
“It shows how the Bournemouths, Fulhams and so on have improved. You can’t have an off spell like Spurs have done and not pay for it. West Ham will tell you the same. It shows how competitive the league is getting. This bodes well in terms of jeopardy for everyone in this league.”

Why things are not as bad as they may seem at Spurs
While the Tottenham squad does have holes, it is certainly much better than the club’s current position in the table suggests.
Two or three quality additions in the summer could transform this side, while several of the club’s young players will continue improving over the next few years.
The situation is certainly not as dire as some Spurs fans seem to think and should the club end the season on a memorable note by winning the Europa League, there is no reason why next campaign cannot be very different.
