After Fredricson, 18-year-old is poised to make United debut vs Bournemouth on Sunday - opinion

0 4

Manchester United face Bournemouth in the Premier League on the road tomorrow.

Ahead of the game, the Red Devils have suffered another unfortunate injury setback.

Manager Ruben Amorim confirmed in his presser that Diogo Dalot is sidelined with a calf injury.

The Portugal international could be ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

Tyler Fredricson made a surprise debut as a left centre-back against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.

The 20-year-old stood out in the 1-0 loss, winning an impressive 12 out of 15 duels contested.

In our view, Amorim could hand a similar debut to Jaydan Kamason at right wing-back on Sunday.

The 18-year-old was not part of United U-21s’ round of 16 win over Everton U-21s in the Premier League 2 yesterday.

This is a good hint that he could make his first-team bow versus the Cherries tomorrow.

In a normal situation, Amorim may probably continue with Patrick Dorgu at right wing-back.

He could also start Harry Maguire in central defence, with Noussair Mazraoui playing higher up.

However, we believe Amorim could be reluctant to pick Maguire in the XI and risk an injury ahead of a crucial European game.

Dorgu could also feature on the bench ahead of the first leg of the Europa League semi-final at Athletic Club on Thursday evening.

Keeping this in mind, it could be the same back three. Mazraoui, Victor Lindelof and Fredricson will likely start at the Vitality Stadium.

Luke Shaw has just returned from an injury of his own and could feature off the bench if required.

Harry Amass should continue at left wing-back, with Kamason making his full debut at right wing-back.

Chido Obi could also be in line for his maiden start for the Red Devils ahead of a misfiring Rasmus Hojlund upfront.
