Gray On New Deal & Five Cup Finals
David Gray was delighted to sign a new deal with Hibernian FC as his side looks to end the season strongly and finish in a European position.
Our Head Coach and his Assistants penned new three-year contracts with the Club earlier today, on the eve of the start of the post-split fixtures.
After putting pen-to-paper on a new deal, Gray admitted how proud he is to be managed Hibernian FC.
“I’m delighted to have signed a new contract. I was very humbled to be given the opportunity, and everyone knows what the club means to me and how fortunate I feel to lead the club.
“The new deal is clearly a reflection on where the club is at the moment. I’m grateful for the support I’ve had from the staff, and the players are the ones that have put us in this position too.
“I’m delighted we are where we are, and I honestly believe there’s a lot more to come from the group too, which is great.
“We had a lot of tough times at the start of the season, but I think that’s been the making of the group and myself. I’ve learnt a lot about myself and the staff, and my staff will say exactly the same thing.
“I honestly believe it made this group stronger, and the club is in a really good place at the moment. We’ve now given ourselves a brilliant opportunity.”
Gray’s side currently sit third in the William Hill Premiership and are on a 17-game unbeaten run in the league – a stat that equals the Club’s post-war record.
Our opponents, Aberdeen, are just three points behind Hibs though, as we enter the latter stages of season.
“From our point of view, it’s a brilliant first game after the split. I said after the Dundee game that there’s five cup finals to go, and this is one of them. It’s a game we’re all looking forward too.
“The form table tells you everyone in the top six has hit form at the right time, so this should be a good game to look forward to.
“As I’ve said, we’ve put ourselves in a good position and everyone is really looking forward to it, I’ve felt that in training too.”
