4 teenagers start, 6 changes: Predicted Man Utd line-up (3-4-2-1) vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
Manchester United host Wolverhampton Wanderers in today’s Premier League clash.
The Red Devils go into the game on a high after a superb comeback win over Lyon in the second leg of the Europa League quarter-final.
United were 4-2 down heading into the final six minutes of extra-time, but they made a tremendous comeback to seal a 5-4 victory.
The result (7-6 agg) will see them face Athletic Bilbao in the semi-final.
Manager Ruben Amorim has since hinted that he could rest some key players versus Wolves.
With the heavy workload in midweek, we won’t be surprised if Harry Maguire, Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte and Diogo Dalot start on the bench.
Formation: 3-4-2-1
Predicted Line-up:
Andre Onana had a good outing against Lyon in the second leg after his double blunder at the Groupama Stadium. He should continue between the sticks.
We anticipate one change in central defence. United need Maguire in the best possible shape for the Europa League semi-final ties against Athletic.
The England international could be given a breather. Victor Lindelof could partner Noussair Mazraoui and teenage sensation Leny Yoro in the back three for the Red Devils.
Dalot delivered a tireless performance in midweek from right wing-back, scoring a key goal. The Portuguese could be handed a much-needed break.
Jaydan Kamason has made the squad for the last two European games. The 18-year-old could be in line for his debut from right wing-back against Wolves.
Luke Shaw has only recently returned from injury and may not be risked from the starting XI. Harry Amass, 18, will likely start ahead of Patrick Dorgu at left wing-back.
In midfield, Casemiro could make way to the bench. The Brazilian rolled back the years in midweek with a sensational display. He provided two assists and won a penalty.
United need him for the final phase of the Europa League and can’t risk an injury. The same is the case for Ugarte.
We anticipate Bruno Fernandes to drop into a deeper midfield role and could be accompanied by Kobbie Mainoo.
In attack, it could be Mason Mount partnering Alejandro Garnacho in the number 10 positions. Chido Obi could be handed a full United debut as the main striker.
The 17-year-old is ineligible to play in the Europa League and could be handed more minutes in the run-in. Hojlund could be kept fresh for the semi-final ties versus Athletic.
Joshua Zirkzee will play no part for the remaining games this season after a hamstring injury.
