Tottenham battling five other clubs for German international centre-back

0 5

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly set their sights on a Serie A centre-back ahead of the summer transfer window, but the Lilywhites have learned that they will have to see off competition from several Premier League and European giants to land the player.

Tottenham are expected to add reinforcements to their backline this summer, with Cristian Romero thought to be keen on a move to Atletico Madrid.

We have seen rumours suggest over recent weeks that Spurs are eyeing the likes of Marc Guehi, Dean Huijsen, and Jarrad Branthwaite ahead of the summer.

It turns out that Tottenham Hotspur are casting their net wider than just the Premier League in their search for a new centre-back, with one Milan man thought to be on the club’s wishlist.

Spurs batting five other clubs for AC Milan defender

Calciomercato.it have now claimed that Milan’s Malick Thiaw has emerged as a target for Tottenham after the North London club learned about the German defender’s potential availability.

The outlet explains that the Rossoneri have to raise cash through player sales this summer and Thiaw is a ‘main suspect’ to leave the club in the next few months.

The Serie A side view the 23-year-old as easily sellable as he is on a modest salary at the San Siro, with the club willing to cash in for around €25m to €30m (£21.4m-£25.7m).

However, Spurs face competition from Newcastle United, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, who are all fans of Thiaw. In addition, Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen have already come forward to ask about the German international’s availability.

Tottenham are also fans of another Milan defender

Thiaw is not the only Milan defender that Spurs are thought to have their eye on, with one of his teammates also thought to be on the Lilywhites’ shortlist.

It has been widely reported over the last few weeks that Tottenham could go back in for Fikayo Tomori this summer after failing to get a deal over the line for him in January.

The same update explained that Milan’s valuation of the former Chelsea man has now come down, with Sergio Conceicao’s side willing to cash in on the Englishman for just around €30m (£26m).
