Tottenham fans slam Daniel Levy for broken promises after Kingsley Coman news
Tottenham fans have called out the club’s hierarchy once again—this time over reports suggesting Spurs are stalling on a move for Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman because of his wages.
With this summer’s window opening earlier than usual, transfer chatter around Tottenham Hotspur is already in full swing.
Fresh reports from Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg suggest that Spurs are keen on bringing Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman to north London.
The Frenchman, who’s had a decorated career winning league titles at nearly every stop, is seen as a potential signing.
However, there’s a catch. Tottenham are reportedly in a holding pattern, not because of transfer fee concerns—but due to Coman’s hefty wage demands, which the club currently appear reluctant to meet.
Tottenham fans react to Kingsley Coman wage concerns
Tottenham Hotspur fans aware of the latest transfer update have now taken to social media to react.
Many didn’t hold back after catching wind of the latest news. Plenty aired their frustrations, with a handful taking aim at Tottenham’s hierarchy and the promises made when the new stadium project began.
One fan joked: “He’s won the league almost every year he’s been at a club. We’re winning the league next season.” Another added: “Waiting for what? We either want him or we don’t. Clubs can either afford wages or can’t.”
Another supporter chimed in: “We should, with our game-changer of a stadium, be able to pay players like this. That was the dream we were sold, right? Right?” That same sentiment echoed throughout the replies: “Game-changing stadium to compete with the best in the world but seven years later, still allergic to high salaries.”
Perhaps most pointedly, another fan said: “We moved from our historic WHL to the THS as it would be a ‘game changer’, yet wages are still an issue for us. How long till our fan base realise Levy has been lying to us?”
Spurs wage bill drops but ambition still in question
While Daniel Levy and the board continue to hesitate over players with big wage packets, recent figures show Tottenham’s wage bill has actually dropped by 12% from last season. Amongst Premier League clubs, Spurs now sit seventh in terms of wage expenditure.
With the exits of Harry Kane and a host of deadwood, you’d think that would free up enough cash to go after players like Coman—players who actually move the needle. But if these reports are to be believed, it appears Spurs are still reluctant to make that leap.
