Joe Milton III Speaks About After Trade From Patriots To Cowboys
Joe Milton III is excited about his new opportunity.
Milton, who spent his NFL rookie season with the Patriots, reportedly was traded by New England to Dallas on Thursday morning. Not long after news about the deal broke, the big-armed signal-caller shared his initial thoughts on the move with FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz.
“My family grew up a Cowboys fan,” Milton told Schultz. “My mom always had a Cowboys shirt on. She always talked about them. Living in Texas has been a longtime dream of mine. And now I’m with them. I’m ready to work.”
Schultz also provided some context on the reported Milton trade, which reportedly had been in the works for “a number of weeks.” After the Patriots reportedly determined the 2024 sixth-rounder was not the most ideal backup for starting quarterback Drake Maye, New England gave Milton permission to seek a trade, per Schultz. And the Cowboys, who have had an up-and-down run with Dak Prescott, apparently were eager to acquire Milton.
Time will tell if the Tennessee product amounts to anything in Dallas, but America’s Team probably offers him a better chance to advance in his NFL career than New England could have.
