Harry Kane’s potential Tottenham return was ‘agreed upon’ over a year ago
Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg explains why a return to Tottenham Hotspur is very much on the cards for Harry Kane in the future, but not this summer.
The striker has been breaking all sorts of goalscoring records since making the switch from Tottenham to the Allianz Arena back in 2023.
However, since it became public that Harry Kane’s contract at Bayern has an exit clause of £54m, there has been a lot of speculation over the striker’s future.
Various outlets have claimed over recent weeks that Spurs have not ruled out the possibility of making a shock move to bring Kane back to N17 this summer.
However, Bayern are thought to be relaxed about Kane’s release clause as they do not expect the striker to push for a move this summer.
Harry Kane’s Tottenham return was agreed upon
Florian Plettenberg has now taken to social media to confirm that the 31-year-old is not thinking about exiting the Allianz Arena just two years on from joining the club.
He claims that rumours of Man United’s and Liverpool’s interest in Kane is ‘wide off the mark’ but suggests that a return to N17 is on the cards in the future for the centre-forward.
In fact, Plettenberg adds that a potential return to Tottenham Hotspur was already agreed upon when Spurs struck a deal with Bayern two years ago, but makes it clear it is not a topic for this summer.
The journalist wrote: ‘The possibility of returning to Spurs at some point was already agreed upon when he joined Bayern – but that is not a topic at the moment either.’
Tottenham have a first refusal on Harry Kane
It has been widely reported over the last 18 months that Tottenham have a right-to-refusal clause in Harry Kane’s contract too.
That means the North London club have the right to match any future bid that is accepted by Bayern for their former player.
However, that would of course depend on Kane himself greenlighting a return to Spurs, which looks unlikely for the time being.
