Tottenham received £16m bid in January, but it would have been a £44m loss

A fresh report has now shed light on how close one player came to leaving Tottenham in January and reveals what his stance is on his Spurs future as the speculation continues to run rife about him ahead of the summer transfer window.

Injuries have prevented Richarlison from fulfilling his potential at Tottenham Hotspur, with the striker struggling for any sort of continuity over the last two seasons.

The Brazilian’s time at the North London club could potentially come to an end this summer if reports over recent weeks are to be believed.

It has been reported that Spurs are ready to sell Richarlison at £40m this summer as they look to cut their losses on the striker and continue rebuilding their squad, but it turns out that the player might have other plans.

Richarlison’s plans revealed after rejecting January transfer

The Daily Mail have now claimed that Tottenham were approached in January by Flamengo, who were willing to sign Richarlison on loan or pay £16m for a permanent deal.

However, Spurs made it clear that they would only consider a permanent sale and demanded double the fee Flamengo were offering.

Additionally, Fluminense also expressed interest in the 26-year-old but the player is thought to be reluctant to head back to Brazil.

Richarlison believes that if he does return to his home country, it would be difficult to return to any of Europe’s top five leagues.

The publication adds that the striker wants ‘another chance to fulfil his potential at Spurs’ as he looks to return from his injury and have a strong finish to the season.

Premier League club express interest in Richarlison

The Spurs striker may have a chance to remain in the Premier League even if Ange Postecoglou’s men decide to cash in on him this summer.

It was reported last month that Everton are seriously considering re-signing Richarlison, three years on from his move from Goodison Park to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The update explained that the 27-year-old is held in very high regard by the Toffees supporters and has maintained a good relationship with the Merseyside club since his switch.
