Celtics Reserve Brings Home Impressive End-Of-Season Hardware
Maine Celtics two-way player JD Davison was named the 2024-25 Kia NBA G League Most Valuable Player on Wednesday.
Davison was exceptional during the regular season, averaging 25.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.5 steals per game over 30 total appearances. Maine, the reigning conference champions, finished the season with a 21-13 record and is back in the postseason for a third straight season.
“JD has been nothing short of exceptional this season,” Maine Celtics head coach and Boston Celtics assistant Tyler Lashbrook said, via a press release. “His work ethic and commitment to his own development are second to none, but his leadership and the guidance he provides to our locker room are what sets him apart. Winning the NBA G League MVP is a testament to all of those qualities. He truly impacts winning in every way, and we’re very proud of him.”
Davison is a two-way player, so he’ll only be eligible to play in the NBA postseason if his contract is converted into a standard deal like Neemias Queta’s was in 2024. Boston has kept its final roster spot vacant since the start of the season, so there’s a chance he does get converted.
The Maine Celtics will visit the Westchester Knicks in the quarterfinals Thursday.
