'We are thinking': Director confirms Euro giants are interested in signing 'world-class' United star

0 5

Manchester United will likely make plenty of changes to the squad this summer.

A new midfielder could be signed as there could be one or more departures.

Christian Eriksen’s contract expires at the end of June. The Danish star has already admitted that he is expected to leave the Red Devils for free.

Ajax sporting director Marijn Beuker has now revealed that the club are considering a reunion with Eriksen alongside several other names.

He told ESPN.nl: “He is one of the players who has performed fantastically with us in the past that we are thinking about. There will be multiples in the media. Other names mentioned are those of Dusan Tadic and Daley Blind.”

Eriksen could reunite with Ajax this summer

Ajax have had a policy of promoting young talents from their academy, but they have also focused on adding experience to the group.

Hence, it won’t be surprising if Eriksen rejoins the Dutch outfit. He previously managed 97 goal contributions from 163 appearances.

Eriksen is likely to receive Premier League offers after leaving United, but he has clearly highlighted that he has no plans to continue in England.

The 33-year-old, described as ‘world-class‘ by manager Brendan Rodgers, has also ruled out a move to the United States and a return to Denmark.

Ajax are probably best-placed to sign him at the end of the campaign. The club can offer him a return to the Champions League for the 2025/26 season.

Eriksen may still have to accept a huge pay-cut on his £150,000 per week salary. Jordan Henderson is the highest earner at Ajax at £75,000 per week.
