Match Preview

Raith Rovers head west for the third game in a row this Saturday, as they face off against Hamilton Accies at New Douglas Park.

Both teams go into this one on the back of a draw, although they both came about in very different ways.

Raith were two up in midweek against Greenock Morton thanks to a brace from Jamie Gullan, but trailed three two going into the final seconds, only for Aidan Connolly to rescue a point at the death.

Hamilton on the other hand looked like they were going to be taking a very welcome three points against Ayr United at Somerset Park thanks to Oli Shaw’s 16th goal of the campaign, only for Ethan Walker to deny them the win in the 95th minute.

That result meant Hamilton remained eighth in the table, two clear of ninth placed Dunfermline, albeit the Pars have played a game fewer.

Rovers on the other hand remained sixth in the table after that draw with Dougie Imrie’s side, with just six games left to play.

This will be the two sides fifth and final meeting of the campaign, with Rovers taking seven points out of nine from the three league meetings, while the first meeting in the League Cup saw Rovers take a bonus point win on penalties after a one all draw.

The first league meeting was at Stark’s Park in September, and despite Lewis Stevenson, Finlay Pollock and Dylan Easton giving Rovers a 3-1 lead, late goals from Connor Smith and Oli Shaw in the 94th minute earned Accies an unlikely point.

Pollock, Jamie Gullan and Aidan Marsh were all on target in the first half hour at New Douglas Park in January as Rovers saw out a comfortable 3-0 away win, and although it was a tighter affair at Stark’s Park a month later, goals from Easton and Pollock saw Rovers home 2-0.

Saturday’s match referee will be Dan McFarlane.

Head-To-Head Record:

Hamilton Accies wins: 62

Raith Rovers wins: 67

Draw: 35
