Tottenham fans will love what Djed Spence has just said about the club’s goals for the coming months and why they are keen to get their hands on the Europa League title.

Tottenham have nothing but pride to play for the in the Premier League, with the Lilywhites now finding themselves a long way adrift of the European qualification places.

However, the Spurs players know that they still have the opportunity to make this a memorable campaign by going all the way in the Europa League.

Reports have indicated that Ange Postecoglou has to secure European qualification to keep his job, which means that the future of the current project is now dependent on Europa League success.

Djed Spence wants trophies and Champions League at Tottenham

Tottenham will return to Europa League action in two weeks, with Eintracht Frankfurt standing between them and a place in the final four.

Spence has now made it clear that the squad’s focus is solely on going all the way to Bilbao and ending the club’s 17-year trophy drought.

The full-back told Rio Ferdinand Presents: “We want to win the Europa League. We need to win trophies as a club, a big club. We need to win something, and I think the Europa League is where it starts.

“If you win that, we get into the Champions League, so that is what we want to win. And obviously, climb up the table. We are obviously not happy with where we are at. We want to climb up the table and get into a good position.”

Europa League will have a huge influence on Spurs trajectory

Winning the Europa League will completely change the mood around Tottenham and restore a lot of belief in the current project.

It would also secure re-entry into the Champions League, which will in turn help the club attract top talent in the summer.

However, being knocked out in the quarterfinal or semifinal is likely to spell the end for Ange Postecoglou, sending the club back to square one and forcing them to start another rebuild.
