Weekend preview: Bassett seek Olveston revenge in top three quest

Royal Wootton Bassett Town look to make it three South West Regional Women's Football League Division One North wins in a row on Sunday when they host SGS Olveston United at the Sustain Stadium (2pm kick off). Fighting for a top three place - and even a potential runners-up finish, Adam Wood's side will need to avoid the fate they suffered when losing 3-1 on their visit to Olveston at the start of the month. That was only Olveston's second win of the season and was a surprise result that leaves Bassett chasing second place Bitton. But on home turf, where they have lost just once in the league all season, Bassett will be confident of securing another important victory. Admission on Sunday is £4 for adults, £2 for concessions and free for RWBTFC youth members. On Saturday the Men's First Team complete their Hellenic League Premier Division campaign with a trip to Hereford to take on Westfields (3pm kick off). Although out of the running for a top five finish, Sam Collier's side arguably still have something to play for, needing a win to minimise the risk of dropping from the sixth place they currently occupy. Westfields is always a tricky place to visit - though Bassett will have fond memories of their last minute 2-1 victory there last season secured courtesy of an Alan Griffin stoppage time goal. Bassett will also be aiming for a first ever league double over their opponents after an impressive 3-0 triumph at home in November. The Development team play the first of three away games to finish their Wiltshire League Premier Division season as they visit Letcombe (3pm kick off). Mark Simpkins' team will be hoping to carry forward the momentum gained from their thumping 7-1 home victory against Trowbridge Town last week as they seek to cause an upset against a Letcombe side who are favourites to claim runners-up spot behind Kintbury Rangers. Letcombe won an entertaining game 4-2 when the sides met in October in the reverse fixture.
