"World-class" star now "more confident" of United stay, 28yo feels he has backing of manager

0 8

Manchester United have had a difficult Premier League campaign. They have accumulated just 37 points with nine games left in the season.

The club are 13th in the standings and could finish in the bottom half of the table.

This could pave the way for a mini-squad overhaul this summer, but goalkeeper Andre Onana is ‘unconcerned’ over his United future.

iNews claim that Onana is ‘more confident’ of continuing at Old Trafford even though the club are considering a move for a new goalkeeper.

The £47 million signing ‘feels he has the backing’ of manager Ruben Amorim with ‘whom he has a good relationship’. He is focused on helping United turn things around.

Onana likely to continue as United’s number one next term

The 28-year-old had a mixed debut campaign at United with several high-profile errors. The theme has continued with notable mistakes this season.

Back-up goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has shown that he can break into the starting line-up, but the Turkish ace has been injured since early February.

Onana, described as ‘world-class‘ by the Athletic, has had no competition in goal in recent weeks and in our view, Amorim may continue with him between the sticks for the 2025/26 campaign.

United are interested in signing Espanyol’s Joan Garcia but a deal could be difficult to pull off with Arsenal in advanced discussions with the Spaniard’s agents.

The Red Devils could beat the Gunners to his signature by guaranteeing Garcia the number one role. It seems unlikely unless Onana heads for the exit door.

There is no indication that Onana will be sold during this summer’s transfer window.
