Tottenham handed an 18.4% chance of achieving something huge in 2025
Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes for silverware this season hinges on their Europa League campaign – and now, Opta’s latest AI prediction has ranked them as the third-most likely side to lift the trophy.
Tottenham Hotspur’s season has been nothing short of turbulent, with their Premier League form continuing to slide. Their latest 2-0 defeat at the hands of Fulham, marked their 15th loss in 29 Premier League games.
However, despite their domestic struggles, Spurs have found solace in Europe. Ange Postecoglou’s side has secured a spot in the quarter-finals of the Europa League, where they are set to face Eintracht Frankfurt in what promises to be a crucial tie.
With the competition reaching its business end, Opta’s AI has crunched the numbers to determine the favourites for the trophy.
Opta’s Europa League predictions: Where do Tottenham Hotspur rank?
According to Opta’s AI, Spanish outfit Athletic Bilbao are the frontrunners for the Europa League crown, with a 22.4% chance of winning the competition. Just behind them are Lazio, who have been given a 21.5% probability of going all the way.
Tottenham Hotspur come in third, ranked as the strongest English contender in the tournament. Opta’s AI gives Spurs an 18.4% chance of lifting the trophy—significantly higher than Manchester United, who are placed at 13.3%.
With a semi-final spot at stake, Tottenham will need to navigate past Frankfurt, who have only been handed a 7.8% likelihood of winning the competition.
Spurs’ path to the Europa League final
At the other end of the spectrum, Rangers (2.2%) and Bodø/Glimt (3.4%) are seen as the biggest underdogs. While upsets are always a possibility in European football, the odds are firmly stacked against them.
Spurs will resume their Europa League journey on 10 April, with the first leg of their quarter-final tie set to take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Should they make it past Frankfurt, the Lilywhites are going to face one of Bodø/Glimt or Lazio in the last four stage.
Of course, if they are to end their trophy drought, this competition could be their best chance of silverware this season.
