Walton & Hersham 2-0 Poole Town – Match Report
Dominant Dolphins unable to break down Swans
Poole Town were on the road at Walton and Hersham, following on from the superb 3-2 comeback win over Winchester City.
Walton, one of the most in form teams in the league, sat 3rd coming into this one. On the other hand, Poole found themselves still in the relegation zone, two points behind Winchester.
Pat Suraci and Joe Lea made a few tweaks to the starting 11, Billy Lowes and Jam Smith were rested and replaced by Charlie Davis and skipper Jamie Whisken.
The game got underway and it was the dolphins who were the team on top, creating chances through Selim Saied and Tyrique Clarke early on.
It was the home side who took the lead 20 minutes in through loan signing, Bobby Joe Taylor, who cut in from the right past Christos Batzelis and dispatched his effort past Ben Taylor. 1-0 to the swans, against the run of play.
Jos Barker in the Swans goal was proving a tough nut to crack and kept the scoreline at 1-0 heading into the break.
Poole came out into the second half absolutely flying. Eight shots on target were recorded for the Dolphins over the 90 and Barker did a superb job of keeping out, Touray, Slade, Saied.
Poole were unable to find that deserved equaliser and with the game approaching the final 10 minutes, the home side doubled their lead. Batzelis brought down a Swans forward in the area and David Rogalski stepped up to the spot, placing his penalty central and securing the points for Walton.
So a 2-0 loss on the road, but a very positive performance with luck not on our side. Our focus turns to non league day next Saturday, as we welcome Sholing to the BlackGold stadium.
