Ford Final Five Facts: David Pastrnak Leads Bruins In Emotional Win Over Panthers

The first game between the Boston Bruins and the Florida Panthers after a shocking Brad Marchand trade was as electric as it was emotional.

The Panthers got it started early on a goal from Dmitry Kulikov in the first period, but solid goaltending from both Jeremy Swayman and Sergei Bobrovsky kept the score at 1-0 until the third period.

A pair of penalties taken by Bruins’ Patrick Brown and Nikita Zadorov led to a 5-on-3 goal for the Panthers. Seth Jones set up Mackie Samoskevich for his 16th goal of the season late in the third period to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead. The penalty extended Zadorov’s NHL-leading penalty minutes to 126.

But it did not end there. After drawing a penalty, David Pastrnak scored on the power play to put the Bruins on the board and record a sixth 80-point season. Mason Lohrei followed it up with a goal of his own, reaching a career-high 5 goals and continuing to add to his career-high 29 points. Pavel Zacha scored for the first time since February 1 for the game-winner.

Ian Mitchell recorded 16:04 ice time, two shots on goal, and +1 in his 100th career NHL game.
