Dejan Kulusevski says ‘strong’ Tottenham talent just needs to be let loose

0 5

Djed Spence’s resurgence at Tottenham Hotspur has caught the attention of many, and now, one of his teammates has had his say on the full-back’s potential. Dejan Kulusevski believes the 24-year-old can go on to have a “very good career”—but only if he keeps up one key trait.

The last three months have been a whirlwind for Djed Spence. The full-back had to wait over a year to make his Premier League debut for Tottenham, finally getting his chance in December 2024.

When the opportunity came, he seized it in style—grabbing an assist and helping Spurs keep a clean sheet.

His standout display left fans and pundits questioning why he had been sidelined for so long. But rather than being a one-off, Spence has kept his levels high, delivering solid performances week after week.

His consistency has not gone unnoticed either. Over the past fortnight, he has been named in back-to-back Premier League teams of the week by Alan Shearer, further underlining his impact.

Dejan Kulusevski full of praise for his teammate Djed Spence

Dejan Kulusevski is the latest to heap praise on the Tottenham full-back, stating that he has all the tools to carve out an impressive career—provided he maintains his current work ethic.

The Swedish winger has been particularly impressed by the defender’s physical attributes, which have made him a real asset in Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Kulusevski said: “Djed Spence has been unbelievable since he started playing. I think he is the type of player where you just have to let him loose on the pitch.

“When he finally got his chance, he showed everyone what he can do—he is unbelievable physically, very strong and fast, and very good with the ball. He has been huge for us.

“This is probably only the beginning for him. He can have a very good career if he keeps going and works hard.”

Spence speaks about his childhood dream after first Tottenham goal

The Englishman’s confidence continues to grow, and he added another milestone to his journey with a goal against Ipswich Town—his first in the Premier League.

After the game, he took to social media to share what the moment meant to him, Spence on his first Premier League goal said: “A kid who had the wildest dreams to play in the Premier League.

“A kid who had the wildest dreams to score in the Premier League. That dream came true yesterday. NEVER stop believing in your dreams & trust in God.” The hope is that the full-back continues to impress until the season ends.
