Ange Postecoglou reveals why he loves Kevin Danso so much at Tottenham
Ange Postecoglou was delighted with the performance of centre-back Kevin Danso against Ipswich Town this afternoon as Tottenham registered their third straight win in the Premier League.
It has been a while since Spurs delivered a convincing display in the Premier League, but that is exactly what we saw at the Portman Road Stadium this afternoon.
The away side were solid at the back for the most part and looked threatening every time came forward, managing to emerge comfortable 4-1 winners in the end.
Brennan Johnson, who was starting his first game in nearly two months, got a brace in the first half while Djed Spence and Dejan Kulusevski also got on the scoresheet in the latter stages of the second period to put the icing on the cake for the Lilywhites.
Ange Postecoglou thinks Kevin Danso enjoys the battle
Postecoglou was understandably over the moon with what he saw from his side, with his selection decisions and his substitutions all having the desired effect.
One man who has certainly made a difference since slipping straight into the Lilywhites’ XI is Kevin Danso, who has taken to Tottenham’s set-up like a duck to water.
On Danso‘s performance against Ipswich, Postecoglou said (Football London): “I think he enjoys the whacks. He’s been great for us since he came in. He’s really taken to the club, taken to the group of players, taken on the challenge.
“It’s not easy when you’re coming into a new club, and we’re asking him to come in and almost be a senior member.
“We still had three teenagers out there starting today, and a fourth coming on. It’s still a really young team. I think Kevin’s been a super addition for us.”
Plenty of encouraging signs for Spurs
The value of having a full week to rest and prepare for a game was demonstrated against both Man Utd and Ipswich, with the Tottenham players appearing a lot sharper than they have been over recent months.
The fact that Postecoglou has also been boosted by the return of several injured players means that the Australian now has room to rotate and the luxury of bringing on some very good options from the bench.
The Australian will be hopeful that his side has turned a corner and can have a memorable finish to what has been an extremely challenging campaign.
