0 4

Tottenham Hotspur have received the verdict from the FA after a missile incident in their clash against Chelsea back in December.

Back in December 2024, Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 4-3 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the hands of London rivals Chelsea.

It was a game that was filled with loads of action, as Spurs raced into an early two-goal lead, before losing Cristian Romero in the 15th minute.

Chelsea eventually got a foothold on the game and comfortably scored four goals before Heung-min Son got a third for Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur escape hefty fine after missile incident against Chelsea

Just like every other Premier League rivalry, fans were heavily involved in this game. Spurs fans, in an unsportsmanlike manner, pelted Chelsea players with paper missiles.

Among those affected was Cole Palmer, who was pelted as he approached to take a corner in front of the South Stand.

Before the match, Spurs fans in that section had created a massive tifo displaying the Latin phrase “audere est facere” – meaning “to dare is to do.”

However, a small group of miscreants disrupted the game by scrunching up the tifo paper and hurling it onto the pitch, forcing a pause.

According to the Daily Mail, the FA have now delivered their verdict on the incident. Although many expected a much harsher punishment, it has now been revealed that Tottenham have escaped with a slap on the wrist. Nevertheless, they have also been reminded of their responsibilities.

Spurs are lucky to escape fine and future TIFOs may be hard

Indeed, Tottenham might have escaped a hefty fine in this incident, there is a need for fans to conduct themselves a lot better in games to avoid a similar situation from happening.

The defeat against Chelsea was rather painful as we did not just lose the match, but we also lost our two main centre-backs, Romero and van de Ven who have barely featured since then.

However, there is good news, as both players are expected to return to action in the next two weeks.
