Agbonlahor names manager who should replace Postecoglou at Spurs
Gabriel Agbonlahor believes that Tottenham should turn to a Premier League manager who has impressed over the last 18 months to replace Ange Postecoglou, but the former Aston Villa man foresees one problem.
PL boss part of Tottenham’s shortlist to replace Ange Postecoglou
Andoni Iraola’s stock has risen dramatically since he took over at Bournemouth 18 months ago, with the Cherries on course to achieve the highest Premier League finish in their history.
Unsurprisingly, the Spaniard’s name continues to be mentioned as a contender for the Tottenham job, with TEAMtalk claiming on Monday that he is part of a three-man shortlist that the North London club have drawn up to replace Postecoglou.
However, the outlet explained that Iraola is not likely to leave the Vitality Stadium until the summer, thus potentially forcing Spurs to wait.
Gabriel Agbonlahor urges Tottenham to go for Iraola but foresees a problem
Agbonlahor has urged Tottenham to stick with Postecoglou for the time being but suggests that Iraola is the ideal man to take over from the Australian.
However, the talkSPORT pundit questioned whether the 42-year-old will abandon what he is building at Bournemouth to jump over to the messy situation at Spurs.
Agbonlahor told GiveMeSport: “And I would go and get, maybe the Bournemouth manager. But why would he [leave Bournemouth]? That’s the problem.
“Top managers now, Iraola, all these managers, like they’ll find you out, and that’s what happens. Spurs need to probably keep Ange, I would, for now, also because who’s out there to go and get?”
The Tottenham project is a tempting one for managers
While Spurs appear to be in a mess right now, they remain one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and several managers in the division would jump at the chance of managing at N17.
The likes of Thomas Frank and Andoni Iraola might relish the challenge of being the ones to bring long-overdue success to Tottenham after some big names have tried and failed.
