Radu Dragusin suffers ACL injury; expected to miss rest of the season
Tottenham Hotspur have received another injury blow with the news that Radu Dragusin is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Dragusin has anterior cruciate ligament injury
The Romanian international suffered a nasty knee injury during the second half of Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Elfsborg in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
Dragusin underwent scans on his knee earlier on Monday and the results have revealed the defender has suffered an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee and is now expected to miss the remainder of the 2024/25 season. (The Athletic).
Ange Postecoglou welcomed back Micky van de Ven of the first half of the Elfsborg match following his hamstring issues with the Dutchman not risked in Sunday’s 2-0 win at Brentford.
Instead, Postecoglou decided to play with Ben Davies and Archie Gray at the heart of his Spurs defence having decided not to take any risks with van de Ven ahead of the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Liverpool on Thursday.
Cruelly, Dragusin had not missed a game since the end of October, playing in 24 straight matches before sustaining the knee problem.
Ange Postecoglou spoke about Dragusin’s knee injury
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou spoke of Dragusin’s injury prior to the defender’s medical assessment and admitted the prognosis ‘doesn’t look good’.
We wish Radu well with his recovery, he showed his warrior spirit when he tried to play on in the match despite suffering a significant injury.
Tottenham bolstered their defence with the transfer of Kevin Danso from RC Lens on Sunday to provide some much-needed reinforcements to the first-team squad.
