It certainly was a game of two halves with Queen’s dominant in the first half with a two goal lead only to see Hamilton Accies turn things round with a spirited second half performance to draw the game.
A mild, dry and windless afternoon for football. A hint of Spring perhaps at Lochinch?
Accies kicked the game off and withing a minute almost took the lead but for Milosz Sliwinski pulling off a superb save diving high to his left to push the ball away from danger.
Despite Hamilton having most of the opening five minutes, it was the Wee Spiders who opened the scoring. Queen’s attacked down the left before the ball was switched to Leo Clark on the right. Leo took a touch then played the ball forward for Sam McLachlan to run onto. Sam, in turn, squared the ball back across the Accies penalty box for William Thomson to step onto and knock the ball low into the far corner of the net from 12 yards out.
Queen’s were now dominating the opening period of the game with control of the midfield. Hamilton were pressed back and looking to intercept any passes being woven by the Spiders players.
In the 16th minute Accies’ pacy winger Osayande Eguagoe intercepted a loose ball out of the Queen’s defence and broke fast down the left side. The Queen’s back line closed the attack down before any scoring opportunities could be created.
Two minutes later Godspower Oguama was pulled down just inside the Hamilton box, the referee pointed to the penalty mark. Connor Falls stepped up and sent Michael Marks, in goal for Accies, the wrong way to make the score 2-0 to Queen’s.
In the 21st minute combination play between Godspower Oguama and Leo Clark saw Leo through on goal but the Accies keeper closed the distance and intercepted the ball before Loe could get to it.

Just like the first half, but this time two minutes in Milosz Sliwinski pulled off a great save from a header for Accies Chris Condy.
Hamilton, at half time, were obviously told to push up and challenge more in the midfield, because that was exactly what they were doing with great effect. Queen’s now had much less time on the ball and the game was being played more in the Queen’s half now.
In the 63rd minute Accies pulled a goal back when sub Chris Condy latched onto a through ball and shot home from 16 yards out.
In the 72nd minute Leo Clark bombed down the right wing, cut a great ball into the Accies six-yard box only to see the Hamilton keeper intercept the pass before Godspower Oguama could connect.
Seven minutes from time Hamilton levelled the game. Finlay Cameron beat the Queen’s defence to push the ball past the advancing Milosz Sliwinski and into the net for an acute angle.
