Match Preview: Airdrieonians vs Queen’s Park
The Spiders return to league action in the William Hill Championship on Saturday with a short trip along the M8 to face Airdrieonians.
With both sides going into this one on the back of important victories, Queen’s in the semi final of the SPFL Trust Trophy and Airdrieonians with a big league win against Dunfermline, it’s sure to make for an interesting afternoon at The Excelsior.

The season so far
The Spiders go into this one sitting firth in the table, two points ahead of Raith Rovers in sixth and six points behind Partick Thistle in fourth. Queen’s last league outing was a disappointing 2-1 defeat at home to Morton where despite a dominant first 45 minutes which saw us go in ahead at the break, a 20 minute spell in the second half saw the good work undone.
Airdrieonians currently sit bottom of the William Hill Championship but go into this one on the back of an impressive 3-0 win at home to Dunfermline a week ago. First half goals from Lewis McGrattan and Chris Mochrie gave the Diamonds a comfortable lead at the break before Ben Wilson rounded off the scoring early in the second half.
