Bruins Listed As Potential Destination For Canucks Star Forward

The Bruins will spend the rest of the season fighting for a playoff spot, and general manager Don Sweeney could consider a major move to help give the Black and Gold a boost.

One team Boston could look to is the Canucks. There hasn’t been a shortage of trade rumors and reports coming out of Vancouver. Things took a turn when president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford publicly spoke about the reported rift between J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson.

It seems like the Canucks are willing to blow up their core, and Miller or Pettersson would be an intriguing addition to the Bruins.

The Athletic’s Harman Dayal and Shayna Goldman published a column Wednesday examining the possible destinations for Pettersson. Boston was one of the 10 teams listed.

“Miller is more likely in the Bruins’ price range, but Pettersson would be even better around their franchise cornerstones,” Dayal and Goldman wrote. “Even if the Canucks move Pettersson for pennies on the dollar, the Bruins may not have the assets or the cap space to make a deal happen. But management needs to make their best offers to elevate their center depth.”

Despite a lack of offensive production this season, Pettersson still has the talent of one of the best two-way forwards in the NHL. The Bruins certainly could use a boost at center, and the 26-year-old profiles well along with either Brad Marchand or David Pastrnak.

It’s not clear what Vancouver wants in a deal for Miller or Pettersson, but it does seem open for business.
