Destiny Udogie’s injury heightens Tottenham’s left-back concerns

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in reinforcing their left-back position has become a pressing issue, particularly following the injury to Destiny Udogie, who has been pivotal under Ange Postecoglou.

Reports suggest that Tottenham have long identified Patrick Dorgu as a prime target to fill this void. Despite their initial focus, however, the North London club’s hesitation appears to have allowed Manchester United to enter the fray.

David Ornstein of The Athletic recently confirmed Manchester United’s involvement, revealing that the Red Devils have opened preliminary talks with Lecce over Dorgu.

While Ornstein clarified that discussions are in the early stages, he noted that dialogue between the parties is steadily progressing, thereby increasing the urgency for Tottenham to act decisively.

Tottenham still in the race to sign Dorgu despite Manchester United bids

Now, GIVEMESPORT is reporting that Tottenham Hotspur remain in contention to secure the signature of Patrick Dorgu, but the stakes have never been higher as the winter transfer deadline looms.

According to the publication, influential figures at Tottenham have intensified their efforts to navigate the challenges posed by Manchester United’s interest to secure the 20-year-old before the February 3 deadline.

The report states that Patrick Dorgu is still seen as a leading Hotspur Way target as the winter transfer deadline edges closer. They also disclosed that Tottenham have been actively working behind the scenes, analysing how they can outmanoeuvre their Premier League rivals.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday that Man United are readying a second bid of £25m for Dorgu after their first was rejected by Lecce. There is no mention of any impending Tottenham bid.

Tottenham must act swiftly amidst Napoli’s lurking presence

While the battle for Patrick Dorgu appears to be a two-horse race between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, it would be remiss to ignore the growing interest from Serie A leaders Napoli.

GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed that Napoli are optimistic about striking a deal with Lecce, bolstered by a significant influx of funds following the sale of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain for £59million.

For Tottenham, the urgency to finalise a deal is paramount, particularly as sources indicate that Dorgu has a verbal agreement with Lecce to leave should a suitable offer materialise.

With his valuation standing at approximately £34million, Spurs must move quickly to prevent Napoli or United from gaining the upper hand, particularly given their rivals’ financial clout.
