Could Spurs recall Manor Solomon or Bryan Gil? Postecoglou reveals all
Ange Postecoglou has revealed whether Spurs are looking to call back some of their loan players – including Manor Solomon and Bryan Gil – in order to help his injury-laden squad.
Tottenham Hotspur’s injury crisis
For the most part of their 24/25 campaign, Tottenham Hotspur have been navigating an injury crisis that has ravaged their squad.
The crisis has left the manager short on first-team players each week, and more recently in their Europa League clash on Thursday night, he had just twelve fit senior players.
With a crisis as serious as this and the winter window still open, the expectation was that the club would make a couple of new signings to bolster their squad.
However, that has not been the case; with a little more than a week left before the market shuts, Tottenham have made one single signing, Antonin Kinsky from Prague.
With no imminent signings, the club has had to rely heavily on two 18-year-olds, Archie Gray and Bergvall who have stepped up. However, their inclusion is not enough as Tottenham still needs more players.
Ange Postecoglou on whether Spurs will recall Bryan Gil and Manor Solomon
In his most recent press conference before the Premier League clash against 19th-placed Leicester City, the Tottenham Hotspur boss was asked if the club are considering calling back Gil and Solomon who are on loan at Girona and Leeds United respectively.
His answer was brief and straightforward, he told football.london: “NO.” This means that Ange Postecoglou would rather Gil and Solomon continue their development elsewhere instead of bringing them back to north London.
The future for Gil and Solomon at Spurs
Despite his brief but straightforward answer, Ange Postecoglou has continually reiterated that his players need help and that the club are working hard to get deals over the line. Still, no new signings have been made.
His response also gives us a hint of what the future holds for both Gil and Solomon. If they are not good enough to render help in this time of crisis, then their time at Spurs may be coming to an end – in fact, a transfer away this summer is highly likely.
