Daniel Levy is not the problem – Former Tottenham CEO wants Postecoglou gone
Former Tottenham Hotspur chief executive, Claude Littner, has revealed who he thinks is the reason for the club’s poor string of results – and it isn’t Daniel Levy.
Tottenham are having a diabolical Premier League season
Supporting Tottenham can often be a case of having little to no expectations, yet still feeling disappointed and let down by them. That is truer than ever this season, with Spurs winless since mid-December in the Premier League.
Tottenham’s latest defeat came at the hands of Everton, who sit one position below Spurs in the Premier League Table, in 16th. The match ended the Merseyside outfit’s six-match winless streak in the league and at half-time it looked like the visitors at Goodison Park could suffer their heaviest defeat of the season.
As things stand, Spurs are a point closer to the relegation zone than to the top half of the Premier League. If they finish in their current position, it will be their joint worst league season since 1994, when Spurs came 15th under the management of Osvaldo Ardiles.
Claude Littner says Daniel Levy is not to blame at Tottenham
Claude Littner has been interacting with a number of Spurs supporters on X, with many of the conversations revolving around Daniel Levy.
During Tottenham’s defeat to Everton, one fan asked Littner to ‘have a word with Levy and tell him to fire Ange’. Littner responded with ‘he knows’, indicating that Levy has lost faith in Ange Postecoglou.
When another supporter suggested Levy was equally responsible for Tottenham’s failings, Littner offered a strong statement in support of the Spurs chairman.
Posting on his X account, he wrote: “I do not see Daniel as part of the problem. He has put Spurs in a very firm financial position. We now need a manager with the experience and know how to overcome our shortcomings and challenge for Honours.”
Claude Littner needs a reality check on Tottenham
Littner’s decision to religiously defend Levy on social media is rather baffling. Despite Tottenham’s lack of activity in the transfer market, even though they have very few players available, the BBC Apprentice star has refused to place any blame at all on Levy.
Spurs have had two managers in the past few years, in Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, who have proven they have the ‘experience and know-how’ to win titles, yet they failed at Tottenham. Then there is also the fact that Postecoglou is currently challenging for the Carabao Cup.
If Littner thinks sacking another manager without a change in strategy from the Spurs board is the solution, he is going to be disappointed when the next one is shown the door in 18 months.
