Jamie Gittens has exploded onto the big stage

Jamie Gittens is the latest in the line of talented young English players who have blossomed at Borussia Dortmund, with the Reading-born forward following in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham.

The winger has been one of the club’s standout players this season, having scored 10 times and provided five assists so far.

The 20-year-old’s impressive displays in the Champions League have reportedly forced many Premier League clubs to stand up and take notice, with Tottenham named as one of several clubs eyeing a move for Gittens.

Bittersweet news for Tottenham regarding Jamie Gittens

GiveMeSport have now revealed that Gittens is indeed open to leaving Dortmund at the end of the season, particularly if the German club misses out on Champions League qualification.

While this seems like good news for Tottenham, Chelsea are also thought to be on the winger’s trail, with the report claiming that the player is open to joining the West London club at the end of the season.

It is explained that Enzo Maresca has identified the former Man City man as an excellent fit for his system, with the Blues said to be optimistic that they can strike a deal for the attacker in the summer.

Dortmund’s stance on Gittens explained

It is pointed out that Dortmund are well protected since the player still has three and a half years left on his £48,000-per-week contract at the club.

According to GiveMeSport, Nuri Sahin’s men will only cash in on Gittens if they receive an offer in the region of £84m as they consider the youngster to be an important part of their plans.

Interestingly, the outlet adds that the City academy graduate will only embark on a fresh challenge if he is convinced that he will fit in well in his suitors’ system and if the right manager is at the helm.
