Queen’s Park 0 Rangers 14
Queen’s Park started the new year with a heavy defeat to Rangers at Ochilview Park after the visitors put up a ruthless second-half display.
It was Iain Robinson’s first game in charge of The Spiders and named Lauren McGregor, Morgan Hay, Hannah Cunningham, Ciara Bonner, Abby Callaghan, Dionne Brown, Leah Daly, Ellie MacDonald, Darcy Molly, Rosie McQuillan and Ami Robertson as his first starting eleven.
Leah Daly made her first appearance after a long injury set back meanwhile Dionne Brown and Ellie MacDonald made their club debuts.
Rangers started the game off well with two big chances in the opening five minutes. The first prevented after a headed clearance from Hannah Cunningham sent the ball behind for a corner.
The second came as Chelsea Cornet looked set to open the scoring with the second after beating the keeper but was unable to find the target.
Rangers got up and running on the 9th minute. Lizzie Arnot delivered a dangerous ball into the box. So dangerous that it bypassed everyone and curled into the back of the net.
Lauren McGregor was able to delay the visitors from scoring their second with a great save in the eleventh minute but Mia McAulay managed to secure it a minute later with a well taken strike hit low into the bottom corner.
Rangers were quick to increase their advantage to three as Olivia McLoughlin found the net with a close range finish four minutes after the second.
Queen’s Park managed to nullify Rangers for the majority of the rest of the first half and found a chance for their own as Ami Robertson struck well from distance but was unable to find the right side of the post.
The hosts continued to keep The Gers at bay with a fantastic clearance courtesy of Morgan Hay to deny them a certain fourth.
Unfortunately, the visitors were able to sneak it another before the end of the half as Rio Hardy’s header concluded their scoring for the half.
Half Time: Queen’s Park 0-4 Rangers
Jo Potter’s side came out for the second half all guns blazing and put up a ruthless performance that Queen’s Park were unable to prevent.

Olivia McLoughlin would also add to her tally with five minutes played after firing her shot into the bottom corner.
The seventh found the back of the net after an unlucky deflection and would go down as an own goal for Ciara Bonner.
Katie Wilkinson managed two goals within as many minutes, extending her side’s lead to ten with fifteen minutes left to play in the second half.
Camille Lafaix scored her first of the match after a great cross via Lizzie Arnot was able to meet her head, which she used to knock the ball into the net.
Kathy Hill’s ball into the box caused a scramble in the danger area before the defender was able to cross the ball over the line to make it twelve.
Camille Lafaix found her second with a close range effort after an initial save was rebounded to her feet. Jane Ross rounded off the scoring in the fourth minute of additional time to seal off a professional start to the new year for the visiting side.
