Hibernian Women's first away journey of the new year sees the girls travel to Foundation Park to take on Dundee United.

The ScottishPower Women's Premier League fixture is set to kick-off at 7:30pm on Wednesday 15 January.

Fixtures

  • Dundee United Women Vs. Hibernian Women - Wed, Jan 15th 2025, 19:30

The Lowdown

We head into the midweek tie in excellent form following a dominant 6-0 victory over Spartans at Meadowbank Stadium on Sunday (12 January).

Midfield trio Michaela McAlonie, Ciara Grant and Kirsten Reilly all found the net inside the first-half alongside striker Eilidh Adams, who scored her 19th and 20th goals of the season, respectively, either side of the midfielders' three strikes. An insurmountable five-goal lead was extended to six after the restart, with Kirsty Morrison grabbing her first goal of the campaign with an arrowed finish.

Our first match of 2025 also saw the return of Ellis Notley to the pitch following a three-month injury-enforced absence, while Lia Tweedie returned to the matchday squad following the end of her loan spell with Queen's Park.

The first-rate performance not only extends the girls' unbeaten league run to nine games, but also lifts Hibernian up to third in the ScottishPower Women's Premier League table. Grant Scott's side now sit one point above both Hearts and Celtic in the standings, while sitting just three points behind Rangers with a game in hand. Defeating Dundee United on Wednesday evening would put us level on points with the Glasgow club.

Additionally, leading into Wednesday's match, Kathleen McGovern was awarded the SWPL Player of the Month award, supported by Park's Motor Group, for December 2024. The striker has scored 18 times in 20 appearances this season, including finding the net three times in two league appearances last month.

The Hosts

Dundee United come into this week's fixture off the back of a heavy 6-1 home defeat to Motherwell at Foundation Park.

Suzy Shepherd's side currently sit bottom of the ScottishPower Women's Premier League, collecting four points from 17 games. This total leaves them seven points adrift of safety from relegation.

The reverse fixture at Meadowbank in August resulted in an emphatic Hibernian win. Linzi Taylor and Eilidh Adams grabbed first-half braces, before Mya Christie and Kathleen McGovern both scored to bring the scoreline to 6-0 come full-time.

Grant Scott will be sure to warn his side of complacency, however, as the Hibees' last league trip to Foundation Park early in the 2023/24 season ended in a frustrating 0-0 draw.
