David Ornstein: 'Powerful' star wants to stay at United, he has no plans to depart
Manchester United have had a tough Premier League campaign and they have picked up only 23 points after 20 games.
The Red Devils have lacked the cutting edge in the final third and they are one of the lowest scorers in the division with 23 goals.
United are currently looking into a loan deal for Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani to transform their fortunes up front.
There has also been speculation that Joshua Zirkzee could leave for Juventus, but David Ornstein has dismissed that possibility.
In an update for The Athletic, the reputed journalist said that the Dutchman ‘intends to stay’ at United during the transfer window.
There is interest from Europe and the Premier League, but he ‘has no plans to depart’ as things stand.
United could decide on Zirkzee’s future next summer
The Netherlands international joined the Red Devils with a good reputation. He managed 19 goal contributions from 37 games for Bologna last term.
However, he has struggled to replicate the same level of performances. He has had only six goal involvements from 28 appearances for the Red Devils.
Zirkzee, described as a ‘powerful‘ striker by Bayern II manager Holger Seitz, has failed to adapt to the higher intensity and physicality of the Premier League.
The forward still has no plans of heading for the exit door this winter. Manager Ruben Amorim should be pleased, having said that he wants to keep the 23-year-old.
Zirkzee could be given until the end of the season to prove his credentials. If the Dutchman cannot meet the expectations, he could be offloaded next summer.
