Agent confirms PL interest after Spurs links with La Liga centre-back
One rumoured Spurs target’s agent has made a big revelation about the chances of his client ending up in the Premier League before the end of the current transfer window.
Spurs eyeing move for Omar Alderete
Over the course of December, a number of Spanish outlets reported that Tottenham are plotting a move for Getafe’s experienced centre-back Omar Alderete.
Some sources suggested that he is the Lilywhites’ top centre-back target, with Ange Postecoglou alleged to be a fan of the 28-year-old.
Other outlets have even claimed over recent weeks that Tottenham have already held discussions regarding a deal for the Paraguay international.
Alderete’s agent breaks silence over defender’s future
Alderete’s agent, Renato Bittar, has now confirmed that four different Premier League clubs have expressed in signing his client.
He further added that the time has come for the centre-back to make a step up to a bigger club, suggesting that he would do so in the summer if not this month.
When asked about the speculation over Alderete’s future, Bittar told La Razon (as relayed by Sport Witness): “There are four clubs in England that want him. It’s time to take the leap. If not now, he will leave Getafe in the summer.”
Getafe’s stance on Omar Alderete amid Spurs links
The same report in La Razon goes on to name Spurs as one of the interested clubs and suggests that Getafe may be willing to let the centre-back leave for a cut-price fee.
It is explained that although Alderete has a release clause of €16m (£13.6m), the La Liga side could soften their stance and sell for a lower fee as they need to raise funds for new signings.
In fact, the publication adds that Getafe have already identified Real Madrid’s Jesus Vallejo as a replacement for the Tottenham target should he depart this month.
