DFC IN THE COMMUNITY: DECEMBER

0 5

An update on Dundalk FC’s community activity in December, from our Football and Social Responsibility (FSR) Officer Aoife Burns.

Football for All Blitz
We held our last Football for All Blitz in Oriel Park of 2024, in partnership with our community partners PayPal and the FAI. Throughout 2024, we held seven series of blitzes for adults with a disability who wanted to play football. We had around 400 participants over the season and we hope to build on this next year.

Everyone was delighted that our new first-team manager Ciarán Kilduff made a guest appearance for our final blitz on December 2nd and even joined in on the last game, RehabCare Dundalk against FAI and Dundalk FC staff, with RehabCare Dundalk coming out winners.

A massive thank you to all the PayPal staff, FAI staff, Dundalk FC staff and the staff of all the adult services that participated, for their continued support of this community initiative.

Academy & Futsal Awards Night
On December 7th, we held our Academy and Futsal Awards. Congratulations to all the winners from the boys’ teams, girls’ teams and Down Syndrome Futsal team, and a massive thank you to all the parents, coaches, staff, our team sponsors throughout the year and those who sponsored a trophy on the night for the awards.

Shed Side Army Sleepout
Dundalk FC, in conjunction with the Shed Side Army supporters’ group and Dundalk Simon Community, held a 12-hour sleepout in the shed side of the grounds in Oriel Park on December 7th, from 8pm to 8am. The fundraiser raised €3,060.

Toy Drive
Thank you to everyone who donated toys and clothes to our Toy Drive. We donated 11 small boxes of stocking filler items, three large boxes of toys, a bag of footballs and five large shopping bags of clothes, all items being distributed to children in Dundalk town and the surrounding areas. On behalf of Dundalk FC, the Shed Side Army and Dundalk Simon Community, we would like to thank you for your generosity and support.

Late Night League
We held our second successful Late Night League Programme, in conjunction with Dundalk FC, Louth County Council, An Garda Síochána and the FAI, where we saw 21 youths participating in a six-week football programme. This is our most successful and longest-running community programme in Dundalk FC.

We hope you had a very Merry Christmas and look forward to an exciting 2025 on and off the pitch.

Building a better Club & Community together.
