One key factor could save Ange Postecoglou from the Tottenham sack
Alasdair Gold has revealed the Tottenham hierarchy’s stance on Ange Postecoglou and suggests one factor could be saving the Australian from the sack.
Spurs fans losing faith in Ange Postecoglou
While the Tottenham fan base still appears split on Ange Postecoglou and whether he deserves time to turn things around, it does feel like a majority are now starting to lose faith in the Australian.
The #AngeOut was one of the top trends across the UK following Spurs‘ draw against Wolves, a result which leaves the Lilywhites deeply mired in midtable mediocrity.
Alarm bells will likely be ringing for Daniel Levy and co about Tottenham’s slide down the table, but it has now emerged that Postecoglou may continue to be given more leeway.
One factor that could work in favour of Postecoglou
This update comes from Football.London’s Alasdair Gold, who says that there is an understanding at the club that the 59-year-old is in a tough situation.
There is said to be an acceptance that the accumulating fatigue of the players, due to the fact that Ange is having to play the same team every three days, has had an adverse effect on the team’s high-octane style of play.
Gold adds that Postecoglou is also benefiting from the fact that the Tottenham players are continuing to play for him and are not throwing in the towel.
The journalist points out that many of Postecoglou’s predecessors ultimately lost their jobs only after losing the support of major sections of the dressing room.
A crucial period coming up for Ange Postecoglou
However, at the same time, Gold adds that there is a belief at Hotspur Way that Postecoglou now faces a ‘crucial period’, and it is up to him to show the Tottenham hierarchy that the club are better with him at the helm than without.
The Football.London reporter suggests that the upcoming spell of games, which includes the two-legged Carabao Cup semifinal against Liverpool and two Europa League group matches, could go a long way towards dictating the former Celtic boss’ future at N17.
