Mo Salah reveals what other teams think about Tottenham under Ange – ‘It’s intense’
Mo Salah has made an interesting comment about Tottenham’s style of play after Liverpool’s thumping win on Sunday, admitting that he and his teammates fully expected a ‘chaotic game’.
Liverpool blow Tottenham away
The Reds dominated large parts of the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and were devastating in attacking, managing to emerge 6-3 winners.
It is comfortably the biggest margin of defeat that Spurs have suffered this season and has predictably raised questions about their open style of play.
It turns out that Arne Slot’s men knew exactly what to expect from the Lilywhites.
Mo Salah was not surprised by Tottenham
Salah, who scored twice and picked up two more assists, revealed that the Liverpool players were fully expecting Tottenham to come at them.
The Egyptian admitted that he is delighted to be walking away with a comfortable win from N17, given how some other top sides have struggled at the venue.
Salah spoke to Sky Sports (22/12/24 from 18:45): “We were quite good up front but defensively we need to improve as a team. Conceding three goals is quite hard. It’s a good result, hopefully we just keep going.
“We expected that [a chaotic game], the way they play, they open the game, they enjoy their football, physically tough and mentally we always have to be in the game.
“They don’t change much the way they play, it’s intense. City came here and struggled, other teams too. I’m happy we won because they played an intense game.”
Ange Postecoglou points finger at injury absentees
While question marks have been raised about Tottenham’s defending, Postecoglou is bullish that the injury absentees played a big role in his side’s struggles at the back.
When asked about the factors that contributed to his side’s defensive issues, the Spurs head coach told BBC Sport: “I’m just going to stop answering these questions. If people can’t see the obvious I‘m not going to point it out. Make of it what you want, yes we’re conceding goals.
“If you want to discount the fact we’re missing a goalkeeper, two centre-backs and left-back and that hasn’t coincided with what we’re doing… I don’t know what to say anymore.”
