Girls’ section midseason review: Growth continues on and off pitch

0 0

Royal Wootton Bassett Town's Girls' Section continues to go from strength to strength. A section of the club that continues to grow in size, that off field strength has been matched by the quality of on pitch performances in the first half of the 2024-25 season. In North Wilts League Division Two, the Under 15 Girls are challenging for honours. At the Christmas break, they sit second with 18 points from eight games and are seemingly in a three team race, along with Ashton Keynes and Bath City Romans, for runners up behind runaway leaders Melksham Town Lionessss. The Under 13 Girls are in the mix for a top two finish in Division One as well. They currently sit third with 15 points from seven games. Although five points behind leaders Nalgo Sports Cobras, Bassett hold three games in hand. Second place FC Abbey Meads Youth Purple (who boast a 100% record) look to be title favourites. But in a competitive division, Tyrone Mings Youth Hurricanes and Tidworth Town Gazelles also have a realistic shot at honours. In Division Two the Under 12 Girls, may likely be out of the running for league honours. However they sit in a solid mid-table position - and are still alive in the North Wilts League Cup having reached the quarter finals. Bassett are also fielding two Girls' teams in the North Wilts League - Under 8s and Under 10s - both of which are showing good progress, while the Under 7 Girls are training regularly in advance of starting playing matches next season.
